Meet The Team
Chris joined Medpricer in 2015. He serves as the Chief Executive Officer and is a member of the Board of Directors. His prior experience is a unique blend of leadership roles in the Cloud Technology, eSourcing, and Healthcare industries.
Prior to joining Medpricer, Chris was CEO of Social Media Information (SMI), an early stage tech company that provides a cloud platform for investigating social open-source intelligence (SOSINT). As CEO, he grew SMI’s revenues by 4 times and customer count by nearly 5 times.
Chris has deep experience in electronic and strategic sourcing. He was an early employee of FreeMarkets (now SAP), the pioneer in electronic sourcing markets. Over six years there, he was VP of Product Management, General Manager Asset Recovery, and Director of Market Making. He doubled FreeMarket’s new solutions revenue each year as VP of Product Management and created one of the largest cloud sourcing software subscription backlogs in the industry. He spearheaded strategic e-sourcing efforts in the automotive, discrete manufacturing, plastics and aerospace industries and was part of the team that took FreeMarkets public in 1999. Immediately prior to FreeMarkets, Chris led client strategic sourcing teams at McKinsey and Company.
Chris’s healthcare experience comes from a global commercial leadership role at Omnyx, a $125 million GE Healthcare / UPMC joint venture focused on digital anatomic imaging. At Omnyx, Chris worked with leading healthcare organizations such as Memorial Sloan Kettering, Stanford and University of Toronto Medical Center. He oversaw Omnyx’s relationship with GE sales personnel in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Japan, Singapore and Australia.
Chris is a member of the Advisory Team for Othot, a company specializing in predictive analytics. In addition to sharing his leadership experience, Chris helped Othot integrate social media analytics into its predictive analytics platform.
Chris holds an MBA in Finance & Strategy from the Wharton School and a BS degree with high distinction in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Mickey joined Medpricer in 2016 and is responsible for Product Management, Customer Delivery, and Marketing. Mickey is an accomplished technology executive with global experience launching and growing software platforms.
Mickey has made his career building great technology products for the enterprise. Most recently as Chief Operating Officer at Mobitor, he was responsible for the design and delivery of two supply chain and field management platforms for healthcare and retail respectively. His customer success teams delivered and implemented solutions to Fortune 500 companies such as Apple, J&J, and Stryker in over 36 countries. Mickey’s deep healthcare domain expertise comes from his time spent partnering with providers, payors, and suppliers to build innovative products for the healthcare supply chain. He started his career at Zimmer East Bay, where as Director of Operations he was responsible for inventory management and pricing negotiation.
Mickey holds a BS in Accountancy and a BA in Finance from Villanova University.
Rachael Rollins, CPA
Rachael joined Medpricer in 2011 and is responsible for financial reporting and forecasting. She also coordinates the daily operations within finance, accounting and human resources.
Rachael began her career as an auditor with Deloitte & Touche serving public and private clients in the financial services and manufacturing industries. She later worked as a process accountant with PepsiCo, where she focused on the accounting, controls, and financial reporting for bottling production across three facilities.
Rachael is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BS and MS in Accounting from the University of Connecticut, where she was graduated Summa Cum Laude.
In his role as the Vice President of Engineering, Bill Sambrone manages the development team from Medpricer’s San Francisco Bay Area office, with a focus on strengthening the company’s machine learning capabilities. Bringing 16 years of industry experience to his role, he specializes in optimizing production environments with an emphasis on quality assurance and test-driven development.
Sambrone has made a career of developing industry-leading products to support fast-growing businesses. Since his first software development position at Vision Computers, Inc. in Arizona, he’s grown to hold software development and management positions at leading organizations, including Automotive Mastermind, Certent and Xantrion. In these positions, he’s built strong teams by removing ambiguity to deliver the best results possible. He has led the architecture of platforms, streamlined unit testing and automation processes, and prototyped and designed new system design.
A former Platoon Sergeant with the U.S. Army Reserves, Sambrone led a troop that supported open source intelligence operations. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management from Ashford University.
Carlos joined Medpricer in 2019 with a long history in sales and digital solutions. He is responsible for leading new revenue opportunities for the company. Throughout Madera’s 15-year career, he has held sales leadership and vice president positions for companies including FreeAgent CRM, Haven Inc., Incisive Software Corporation and Coupa Software. He has a solid foundation of experience in technology that automates logistics for the supply chain and spend management, and in driving new business and sales for software solutions.
Madera graduated from Menlo College in California with a BA in Business and a minor in Management Information Systems. He also has experience in the United States Air Force.
Les Grant is the Founder of Medpricer, the first dedicated e-sourcing company focusing on the healthcare community. As Founder, he conceptualized, developed and introduced the first cloud-based negotiation platform dedicated to the Hospital and Healthcare Industry in the US.
Prior to founding Medpricer, Les was the National Sales Manager for Oxford Instruments Medical and has over 30 years of front-line experience negotiating sales of capital, medical/surgical equipment and supplies to hospitals and private practices, as well as to buying groups such as Premier, Novation, Kaiser and Tenet. Les’s managerial experience includes Regional Sales Manager for Toshiba, VP of Sales for Corometrics Medical Systems, Inc. and Regional Sales Manager for Siemens. In his management capacity for major medical corporations, Les realized the need for an e-Sourcing platform that eliminated the need for paper bids by allowing suppliers and buyers to negotiate in real time over the internet.
Les is a graduate of Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ.
Kevin Roche, Founder of Roche Consulting, received a law degree and an MBA from the University of Minnesota. He worked as a law clerk for a federal judge, at the Minnesota Attorney General’s office and at the law firm of Lindquist & Vennum.
He was assistant general counsel at Park Nicollet Medical Center and American MedCenters before becoming General Counsel of UnitedHealth Group, a position he held during the company’s rapid growth and multiple acquisitions. Mr. Roche then founded and ran the Ingenix (now Optum Insight) division of UnitedHealth. After leaving UnitedHealth, he has worked as an investor, legal and business advisor, and consultant in the health care field, including as a principal in Vita Advisors, LLC; as a senior consultant for Triple Tree and as founder of Roche Consulting. Mr. Roche has served on the boards of several companies, including Virtual Radiologics, Genoa Healthcare, Tactile Systems, Medication Management Systems, Oak Street Health, 7Medical and InfoMedics. Mr. Roche researches and writes extensively on health care and other public policy issues. He has extensive experience in health care mergers and acquisitions, having participated in over 70 transactions with sizes up to several billion dollars.
Mr. Roche works and lives in Minneapolis. He is married with three children. Mr. Roche also owns a timber and farming business and enjoys travel around the world.
Rob C. Hart, CFA
Rob focuses on healthcare information technology and services as Principal at Telegraph Hill Partners (THP), and supports the team’s efforts in research, transaction execution, and portfolio company operations.
He joined THP from Citigroup, where he worked in healthcare investment banking and acquisition financing. Rob also worked as a summer associate with the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore. Rob currently represents THP on the board of MedPricer. He received a JD/MBA from Northwestern University School of Law and Kellogg School of Management. Prior to graduate school, Rob was a staff accountant with the Securities & Exchange Commission and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic. Rob received a BS from University of California, Santa Barbara.
Jeanette M. Welsh, J.D.
Jeanette has spent over 20 years in the areas of private equity, mergers & acquisitions, securities law and administration. She is a Partner and the Chief Administrative Officer of Telegraph Hill Partners (THP).
Prior to joining THP, Jeanette worked at Three Cities Research, a private equity firm in New York focused on middle market companies. Her private equity investment activities range from growth equity and leveraged buyouts to going private transactions and bankruptcy auctions. Prior to joining Three Cities Research, Jeanette practiced law at Epstein, Becker & Green P.C. in New York where she focused on corporate and securities law. Before commencing her legal career, Jeanette was part of the M&A department of Société Générale Securities Corporation. She has represented THP on the boards of Interface Associates, AngioScore (acquired by Spectranetics) and MedPricer. Jeanette has a Bachelor of Art degree in Philosophy from Hunter College, City University of New York and a Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law.
J. Matthew Mackowski
Matt has been a healthcare-focused venture capital investor since 1980. Currently, he is Chairman and Managing Director of Telegraph Hill Partners. He began his venture capital career with Citicorp Venture Capital, where he was VP and a member of the investment executive committee.
Matt later joined Robertson, Stephens & Co. and was partner and Chairman of the Venture Capital Group. In 1991 he formed Mackowski & Shepler, an investment partnership focused on developing life science and medical technology companies and the predecessor to THP. Matt has represented THP on the boards of Kinetikos Medical (acquired by Integra), Ambion (acquired by Applied Biosystems), Aurora Discovery (acquired by NEXUS Biosystems), Interface Associates, Asuragen, Althea Technologies (acquired by Ajinomoto), AltheaDx and MedPricer. Matt received a BA from Duke University and an MBA from The Wharton School.
Gary D. Curtis
Gary has worked in the healthcare and medical device industry since 1981, including thirteen years as a senior executive in three private equity backed ventures. He is currently a Venture Partner at Telegraph Hill Partners.
Gary began his career in healthcare with United States Surgical Corporation where he spent 22 years in roles of increasing responsibilities including Vice President of Sales Operations and Distribution Sales for Tyco Healthcare following the acquisition of USS by Kendall. He next joined UTI Corporation as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing where he led the Sales and Marketing strategy though the acquisition and integration of MedSource Technologies, the re-branding of the combined organization as Accellent, and through its acquisition by Kohlberg, Kravis, and Roberts in 2005. Gary then joined THP’s portfolio company Interface Catheter Solutions as President, CEO. He led the strategic growth into contract manufacturing resulting in its acquisition by NDC/Confluent Medical in 2015. Most recently, Gary was President of Trelyst, a subsidiary of NuSil Technology LLC focused on developing silicone based combination drug-delivery devices for implantation to address the growing issue of medication adherence. He led the organization through its merger with Avantor. Gary holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Millikin University.
Joe is a values-driven leader with a 20-year track record of leading nationally-recognized supply chain transformations and new business development ventures at organizations within healthcare and beyond. As the founder of Supply Chain Sherpas, he is an outspoken advocate for the importance of investing in people and culture to enable the strategies and desired results of any organization.
For the last decade, Joe has invested time to learn healthcare and understand the nuances of the supply chain while in progressive leadership roles at Intermountain Healthcare and at Pensiamo.
Joe served as Intermountain Healthcare’s Vice President of Supply Chain & Chief Procurement Officer where he led the award-winning transformation effort and helped the team earn the number one ranking in Gartner’s “Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25.” Individually, Joe was recognized as the “Contracting Professional of the Year” in 2013 by Healthcare Contracting News.
Most recently, Joe served as the Executive Vice President of Operations for Pensiamo, where he led sourcing, purchasing, accounts payable, integrations and account management for UPMC while developing Pensiamo’s offerings for external clients.
Prior to joining the healthcare industry, Joe held progressive procurement and business development roles at Foodbuy while helping the company grow to become the world’s largest foodservice GPO. Joe also led the global sourcing transformation for Corporate Express (now Staples) after first helping the company launch its successful integrated supply business.
Prior to joining Medpricer’s advisory board, Bob Hemker served as the President and CEO of Palomar Health. During Hemker’s career, spanning more than three decades, he has served on numerous boards and councils, including the BAIS board of directors, the District Hospital Leadership Forum executive committee and was the Vice Chair for the BETA Council.
A 33-year veteran in healthcare, Hemker’s career is highlighted with various c-suite roles that spanned for-profit, non-profit, and government acute care facilities across California and Hawaii. Most notably, Hemker spent 20 years at Palomar Health where he drove the strategic, financial and operational leadership of the network while working closely with community, staff and board members.
Steve holds BS in Business Administration and Economics from Ferris State University.
