Chris Gormley, CEO
Chris joined Medpricer in 2015. He serves as the Chief Executive Officer and is a member of the Board of Directors. His prior experience is a unique blend of leadership roles in the Cloud Technology, eSourcing, and Healthcare industries.
Prior to joining Medpricer, Chris was CEO of Social Media Information (SMI), an early stage tech company that provides a cloud platform for investigating social open-source intelligence (SOSINT). As CEO, he grew SMI's revenues by 4 times and customer count by nearly 5 times.
Chris has deep experience in electronic and strategic sourcing. He was an early employee of FreeMarkets (now SAP), the pioneer in electronic sourcing markets. Over six years there, he was VP of Product Management, General Manager Asset Recovery, and Director of Market Making. He doubled FreeMarket's new solutions revenue each year as VP of Product Management and created one of the largest cloud sourcing software subscription backlogs in the industry. He spearheaded strategic e-sourcing efforts in the automotive, discrete manufacturing, plastics and aerospace industries and was part of the team that took FreeMarkets public in 1999. Immediately prior to FreeMarkets, Chris led client strategic sourcing teams at McKinsey and Company.
Chris's healthcare experience comes from a global commercial leadership role at Omnyx, a $125 million GE Healthcare / UPMC joint venture focused on digital anatomic imaging. At Omnyx, Chris worked with leading healthcare organizations such as Memorial Sloan Kettering, Stanford and University of Toronto Medical Center. He oversaw Omnyx's relationship with GE sales personnel in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Japan, Singapore and Australia.
Chris is a member of the Advisory Team for Othot, a company specializing in predictive analytics. In addition to sharing his leadership experience, Chris helped Othot integrate social media analytics into its predictive analytics platform.
Chris holds an MBA in Finance & Strategy from the Wharton School and a BS degree with high distinction in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
James Bouchard, VP Operations
James is responsible for the global delivery and operations of Medpricer's sourcing services and technical operations. He joined the company in 2008 and prior to becoming Vice President of Operations, served as Director of Sourcing Operations where he was responsible for the delivery of all sourcing initiatives within purchased services, capital equipment, and medical/surgical contracts.
James is responsible for developing Medpricer's Purchased Services Sourcing Program, and creating Medpricer's incumbent-focused ISN™ process. James is pivotal in the development of all new service and technology offerings for the company.
James Bouchard holds a BA in Political Science and Business Administration from Marist College; additionally, James has a paralegal certificate from Marist and earned a certificate of negotiation from Harvard Law.
Emil Layacan, CPA, VP Sales
Emil joined Medpricer in 2013 is Vice President of Sales. Before becoming part of the management team, Emil was a Medpricer customer.
With a decade of healthcare and supply chain experience, Emil brings strategic insight in matching hospital's needs to the Medpricer Solution. Previously, he served as Supply Chain Director for the Greater Hudson Valley Health System, where, in 2011, he helped build and relocate two Orange Regional Medical Center facilities into one new building. He also developed the Value Analysis process for the System. Emil's first Healthcare experience is with Mount Sinai in New York City, where he shifted from Hospital Finance to Operations as Director of Materials Management and Value Analysis. His Value Analysis Committees have been cited as a Best Practice for effectively managing cost, quality and outcome, and for actively engaging stakeholders.
While at Mount Sinai, Emil attended Baruch College's Executive Healthcare Leadership. In 2011, he was again nominated to participate in Cornell University's Academy of Healthcare Leadership, an Executive Program in Healthcare and Public Administration. He is a Certified Public Accountant, launching his professional career as a consultant with PriceWaterhouse Coopers. Emil is a member of Mensa International.
Elsie Swarts, VP Legal
Elsie joined MedPricer in 2012, and is responsible for all legal aspects of the company's business operations. These include contracts, litigation, collections, sales audits, compliance, insurance and risk management. She also serves as the Corporate Secretary for the company.
Prior to Medpricer, Elsie was an Associate with a Connecticut law firm specializing in Social Security claims and family law. Prior to that, she was the Managing Partner at Consumer Legal Services LLC, where she focused on estate and bankruptcy law.
Elsie is a naturalized American citizen and a native of South Africa, where she spent the first 15 years of her career practicing as legal advisor to Xerox, Mobil Oil Co. and South African Airways.
Her practice focused on debt restructuring, securities, collections and fraud investigations. During this period, she successfully founded and sold two companies in this field.
Elsie holds an Associate's degree from Witwatersrand Business School, a Bachelor's degree in Business & Accounting from Potchefstroom University and a Juris Doctor from the University of South Africa.
Rachael Rollins, CPA, Controller
Rachael joined Medpricer in 2011 and is responsible for financial reporting and forecasting. She also coordinates the daily operations within finance, accounting and human resources.
Rachael began her career as an auditor with Deloitte & Touche serving public and private clients in the financial services and manufacturing industries. She later worked as a process accountant with PepsiCo, where she focused on the accounting, controls, and financial reporting for bottling production across three facilities.
Rachael is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BS and MS in Accounting from the University of Connecticut, where she was graduated Summa Cum Laude.
